Grisons is building in the mountain
Graubünden offers a dramatic landscape and is an interesting destination for new architecture in the Alps. The deliberate confrontation with tradition, scale and material allows contemporary architecture to emerge, without being appealing.
Using the example of Vrin, we rediscover the wood-knitting, in Vals the careful processing of the local Vals quartzite, Fläsch received the Wakker Prize for exemplary localization and always new concrete buildings, colored, decorated with ornaments and / or monolith in single-shell insulating concrete.
In the cantonal capital of Chur, there is a return to the legacy of the 1960s concrete buildings; thanks to the intervention of the local heritage agency, several icons of that time have been carefully renovated and expanded, so that old and new can look to the future together.
